ITALY: LUCCA & CINQUE TERRE

I love traveling and experiencing new places and I find huge inspiration in learning about other cultures. I have always had a soft spot for architecture, food and smaller places that allows you to enjoy both nature and culture. A couple of years ago I visited Lucca in Tuscany, which was my first trip to Italy.

Lucca was, to me, a perfect place to be. You'll find lots of great food and beautiful architecture right at your feet, while the mountains and the coast are only a short drive away. Florence and Pisa are also very close and the magnificent Cinque Terre will absolutely be worth your while.

Cinque Terre, "The five lands", is composed of five villages built into a steep hillside. You can walk between the villages, while enjoying the breathtaking views of this piece of Italian Riviera. I have never in my life seen such a colorful place like Cinque Terre. It was like a painting.

Have a beautiful Sunday

DANISH PLACES: CHRISTIANSFELD

My Hubby and I love going for a drive, discovering new places. We usually do this on Wednesdays, as this is our day off, and so most weeks, Wednesday has become our Saturday :)

The other week we drove to a small town called Christiansfeld, which is located in the southern part of Denmark. The city was founded in 1773 by the Moravian church. Its architecture is very distinct and very well planned, where most town houses and city buildings are built using very fine quality craftsmanship and strict choice in materials, giving it a very unanimous look.

In Denmark we take good care of our old buildings and therefore also keeping the history. Christiansfeld is quite special in this way. It was built in only twenty years and to promote trades and industry. One of these industries was the honey cake bakery, which up until 2008, still was using its original 18th century bakery. Today a chocolatier has taken over the place, but they still bake honey cakes after the original secret recipe, although today, they have become a bit more sophisticated, using only the best organic ingredients available.

There's not a lot of activities in this town, but there is plenty of history and details. We just loved walking around looking at, discovering and photographing little old pieces of history. This uniqueness and well preserved architecture, has also resulted in the town being on UNESCO's tentative list.

Have a great evening.

2012 COLORS & TRENDS

Hello all, hope you have a wonderful weekend. Just popping in to show you a few pics from the fair we went to this weekend.
There's so much beautiful stuff out there and the trend is quite wide, so we have chosen to show you some of our favorites. You'll find a lot earthy tones, rough materials like wood, metal and burlap. Knit is also a huge thing at the moment and preferably multicolored. Of course the "junk" trend is still very much in style and it is mixed with gorgeous patterns and colors and we like it.

Have a great Evening

EVER FEELING BLUE ON A SUNDAY?

There's nothing like a good old fair, to spice one's shopping mood. This Sunday we went to Gelsted Market, a yearly market here on Fyn, Denmark. It's one of the good ones, has a really good flea market incorporated, plenty of stalls and you can definitely make some bargains here. We made a few good finds. I bought an old 40's typewriter for only 1,5 euro and Sussi found some beautiful little crystal glasses. The weather was great and it was fun to walk around and take pictures.
Have a great day! /Annika & Sussi

SPRING TREND 2011

This Sunday we went to FORMLAND (danish home accessory fair). It's quite a big fair with around 650 exhibitors and they had made some really great inspirational trend-zones this year. I don't think the trends are that different from last year and a lot of the products you see are the same, with maybe some minor color changes. Zinc(and metal) and wood are definitely popular materials and the whole industrial feel is very present. Color wise it's very natural with splashes of color; you see lots of gray, beige, purple and wood...actually very light wood, with an almost unfinished look. I kind of like it, though. There's also a lot of flora and fauna, both in prints, patterns and decoration. These pictures are from the trend-zones.

Have a great day! /Annika

SUNDAY INSPIRATION

Today we are going to FORMLAND (danish home accessory fair) and we are looking forward to being inspired and see what spring/summer are bringing. We have a lot of plans for this year and we are very exited about it. We can't let you in on anything yet, but we assure you that it's going to be very creative and hopefully it will make you feel inspired.

Have a great Sunday! /Sussi & Annika

Have a look at Fabriken for more Sunday inspiration.

christmas in gamla stan

Everytime I´m in Stockholm I always like to take a stroll through Gamla Stan. This is a place I find quite inspiring because of its enormous amount of detail. The architecture is especially lovely here, old buildings, small shops and narrow alleyways. The shops are very charming and they do a lot of decorating both inside and outside the stores. Here you´ll find a lot of great signs and old inspiring details and the Christmas season only adds to the charm. This is definitely one of my favorite places in Stockholm. /Annika
