GARDEN TABLE NAME TAGS

As we promised you in yesterdays post, today we have the name tag freebie and instruction for you. To make these tags you'll need burlap, yarn and of course the printout of the tags.

1. Print out the tags and cut along the lines.
2. Write the names of your guest on the top tag (small one).
3. Cut out a piece of burlap. Use the small tag to measure, but add about 1cm to the width. Now fringe the edge of the burlap on the long side, by removing a couple of threads.
4. Make tassels. See 'how to' here. (The tassel is optional and can be exchanged for a piece of string).
5. Take the big tag, place the burlap piece in the middle and place the name tag on top. Make a hole for the tassel in one end. Use hole punch.
6. Secure the layers to each other by attaching the tassel.

Happy printing and tasseling.

GARDEN TABLE SETTING

Today we have a lovely table setting for you. This is a very casual, yet elegant setting. The centerpiece is made of 4 simple potted flowers in terracotta pots and a small magnolia tree, which we wrapped in burlap.

Because the table and terracotta pots are almost identical in color, we made a table runner from a piece of cotton fabric. The edges where ripped (you can do that pretty easily with cotton fabric and still keep a straight edge) to create a rustic and casual look. This creates contrast on the table.

We choose the color of the flowers to match the tableware, and the color of the plates to match the cream color of the table runner. Between the bowl and the plate we put a piece of burlap. This keeps the bowl from moving around on the plate + it looks very nice.

As a final touch, we created a 3 layered nametag with a tassel attached. Tomorrow I'll post a description and download on how to make the tags and tassels.

Happy table setting :)

COLOR PALETTE WEEK 20

CHICKEN WIRE HERB BASKET

Today we have a perfect little weekend garden project for you. It's a basket made from chicken wire with branch handles. You can use it to keep you favorite herbs and it would be ideal for the potting table or maybe the kitchen window.

Follow the 'how to' to make the basket. You can save the image to keep it handy.

Have a great Saturday!

SPRING FLOWER TRAY

Being in the garden this time of year is special. You get to witness everything blossom and take on colorful transformations. Sadly sometimes, the transformation of a garden involves having to cut down trees and bushes.

When you cut down trees you are often left with a tree stump. Some pull everything out of the ground, but if you are one of those who doesn't mind a bit of stump, then here's a cool idea; you can place a tray on the stump and create a small flowerbed.

We had a lilac bush, which was wildly over growing itself and everything around it, so we decided to cut it down and left the stem at about a 70-80 cm height.

Then we took a big metal tray, drilled a couple of holes in it and screwed it on to the stump. This gave me a place to arrange a beautiful little flowerbed that I can change throughout the summer. Looks super cozy and fresh.

Have a beautiful day!
