RAW SIMPLICITY AND ELEGANCE

I have been looking forward to be sharing these pictures with you. As you might have noticed, it's my sister who's the flower master around here...and I'm the lucky one getting to photograph all of her creations. I know a lot of you really like to photograph as well, so you probably know what I'm taking about when I say that; not everything looks as good on camera as it does in real life. The interesting thing is that, what we perceive with our eyes, can be adjusted. We often choose how to see things, leaving out one detail and including something else. But the camera sees everything, nothing can be hidden. This makes certain shapes or objects more fit than others to be photographed. So when my sister came with this beautiful, odd shaped bouquet, I was not only thrilled about her ability to be creative and original, but I knew the photo shoot was going to be such a pleasure. The raw simplicity and elegance of this flower piece was breathtaking.

The decoration is made from anemones and cut of branches(preferably not too crooked) in different sizes. The flowers has uneven lengths to give the piece some layers. Secure everything together with some coarse string.

Happy Saturday! /Annika

TURNING OLD TO NEW

I like the thought of using found objects when decorating.
It's fun to come up with new ways of using flea marked finds and combining them to make new things for the home.
For this little project I have used a couple of embroidery frames as wall decoration. I have then attached a  cover from an old music sheet and for the other frame I used a small crochet tablecloth. The candle is made from an old oil lamp and a small tray. /Annika

BOTTLE UP SOME FLOWERS

This is a very quick decorating project and easy to do. You can use any old bottles you might have. These clear blue/green bottles are former white wine bottles and have a great color that gives a bit of airy spring feel. Take any piece of fabric and wrap around the bottles and secure with some string, ribbon or lace. We used a piece of fur, that was found at a flea marked, and some silky looking string to create contrast. Pretty much any cut flower with a long stem will do, but even twigs or branches would look really nice. This is a great "use what you have" project.

Have a creative Wednesday! /Annika

SPRING COLOR INSPIRATION

We felt like creating a bit of spring inspiration today. This is a nice way to create some spring feeling in your home, even though spring is a few months ahead :) A couple of twigs or cut of branches together with a handful of colorful flowers. Make it look a bit casual by not arranging it to perfectly. Have a great Tuesday! /Sussi

EVER CHANGING SEASONS

I like all the seasons...don't really favor one over the other...but what I think is interesting, is the change, how one season becomes the next. I have always thought that the process is much more beautiful than the end result. How a small seed can become something great, but not without being able to grow. Right now I'm eagerly waiting all the little buds that are soon going to sprout. I think it is such a life confirming feeling, knowing that everything starts over every year. It's like having a never ending palette of inspiration.

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. /Annika
