THE SMELL OF SPRING

I think we all have certain things or get these little moments, where we are reminded of our childhood and fond memories. To me willow catkins are one of these things. When I see those fluffy buds I'm immediately thrown back to my childhood, where I walked home from school feeling and touching every twig that was blooming with these little soft ducklings (that's what we call them in Denmark). To me they are such a strong signal of spring being just around the corner, that I can almost smell it. What things triggers your memory?

SPRING TREND 2011

This Sunday we went to FORMLAND (danish home accessory fair). It's quite a big fair with around 650 exhibitors and they had made some really great inspirational trend-zones this year. I don't think the trends are that different from last year and a lot of the products you see are the same, with maybe some minor color changes. Zinc(and metal) and wood are definitely popular materials and the whole industrial feel is very present. Color wise it's very natural with splashes of color; you see lots of gray, beige, purple and wood...actually very light wood, with an almost unfinished look. I kind of like it, though. There's also a lot of flora and fauna, both in prints, patterns and decoration. These pictures are from the trend-zones.

Have a great day! /Annika

CROCHETED VASES

I made these crocheted vases a couple of weeks ago. The big one is about 40 cm high and the other around 25 cm. I found the vases at a flea marked and I just really loved the shape. Thought they would be wonderful for a project like this.
This Tuesday's theme over at Fabriken is 'hand made by me'. It's a fun subject and it's going to be interesting to see what everyone is crafting. Have a creative day! /Sussi

SUNDAY INSPIRATION

Today we are going to FORMLAND (danish home accessory fair) and we are looking forward to being inspired and see what spring/summer are bringing. We have a lot of plans for this year and we are very exited about it. We can't let you in on anything yet, but we assure you that it's going to be very creative and hopefully it will make you feel inspired.

Have a great Sunday! /Sussi & Annika

TYING UP THOSE LOOSE ENDS

I think twine is a beautiful material. I love the different textures and colors it comes in and especially when it's all nicely presented in a basket or box. The only problem is that, it might not be practical to store it that way. Sometimes you need a more "easy access" solution. Terracotta pots often has a hole in the bottom and they can actually function as a pretty cool twine dispenser. You can secure the pots with wire and hang it on a nail or board. It will work best with a roll of twine, where the end is pulled from the inside.

Have a great day! /Annika
