SWEDISH SAFFRON BUNS

Christmas is not really Christmas without a lot of baking. Growing up in a family, that was blessed with a mother who just loved baking and cooking, we got to enjoy a lot of homemade breads and cookies. Around Christmas it was quite special, because my mom would bake for days to fill the cupboard and freezer, so she always had something delicious to serve, when people came over.
These buns are Swedish saffron buns, pretty much a sweet wheat bun, except for the saffron spice, which gives it a lovely color and makes it smell fantastic. Today it's St. Lucia Day and on this day saffron buns are traditionally enjoyed in Sweden.
