SPRING INSPIRATION

Today I made an ad for my sister's work, where I had to do a minor photo shoot of the new flowerpot spring collection. I took the opportunity to snap a few extra photos for the blog. The flower pots are from KRIFON (wholesale) and the material are mostly wood, worn looking glazed ceramics, glass, metal and terracotta with concrete looking glaze. It's fun to get new inspiration and this weekend we are of to FORMLAND (danish home accessory fair) to be even more inspired. Are any of you visiting FORMLAND this weekend? /Annika

PLANTS AS WALL ART

I like little green plants, but sometimes they look kind of tiny and sparse opposed to bigger and more artistic decorations. So I thought I could combine the two and make a fun decorative piece from little green plants. I wanted it to be a bit unusual and decided that it should function as wall art too.
I had this old bulb tray, which I thought would make a nice frame. I attached little metal flowerpots to the netting of the bulb tray, with some wire, and added some flowers. An easy project where you can make all sorts of results based on different pots and flowers.

CUP OF FLOWERS

Since the post last Sunday, I have been wanting to use these little teacups as flowerpots. They are tiny, so I had only room for a couple of muscari. But they turned out really fun and they made for a great photo sessions as well. Wish you all a happy Saturday! /Annika

FELTED FLOWERS & WOOLLY CHAIRS

I found these cute projects over at Marie Claire Idees. I like the idea of making something you have look a bit more fun or give it a new look. These flowers are made from felt and I think it's such a fun material to work with, since you don't have to finish of the edges. The chair cover is pretty cool too. I like how the fabric gives it a more practical and rough look, than if it were made from a thin, fine material. You'll find the instructions here:

Have a productive and inspiring Friday! /Annika

TEA CUPS & SCRUFFY KITTENS

This collage is featuring some of my favorite objects, both to photograph and to collect. I have a thing for tea cups and mugs and I enjoy the feeling of having a cup in my hands, how it's shaped, and how it feels to drink from it.
A while back I did a lot of ceramics and I was crazy about making mugs. It was almost a contest with myself to make one cup better than the other. It seemed like the possibilities were endless.
I wouldn't say that I have a huge collection of teacups, it is more one of those objects I feel drawn to when visiting flea markets. That, along with things like little salt and pepper shakers, old illustrated books, beautiful old type & vintage posters.
I'm not really good at buying expensive finds, just because it has become popular. I like to look for odd little things that has no real value, except for its peculiar beauty. Like the scruffy kitten no one wants.
What are your favorite objects to collect?

Have an inspiring day! /Annika

PICTURE COLLECTION PALETTE

Found this gorgeous collection of pictures in the Brown Dress With White Dots tumblr archive. I really love the style of this collection. Have a great Monday! /Annika

FINDING BEAUTY IN WHAT YOU HAVE

I think you all know the feeling when you look in your overly filled closet, thinking that you have nothing to wear and that you need something new.
Or you got tired of your china collection and don't feel you could stand eating from it ever again. That if you just bought something new....well, you would feel renewed.
I think that sometimes it's too easy to get rid of what you have and just buy something new. And I'm not just talking about wanting new stuff, but always wanting more, not enjoying what you already have. I know a lot of you really enjoy flea markets and buying old stuff, but I bet you also have a lot of that laying around already, things that are not being used, not being appreciated.
It does take a bit of effort to always appreciate and use what you have, but I like to think that there is beauty and potential in everything, it just depends on how you look at it. Maybe those old clothes needs a scissor or maybe you could paint you old china? It's all about that particular light you choose to shine on things. Even a grey day can be beautiful...if you want it to be.

Have a great Sunday! /Annika

BEING INSPIRED TO CREATE

I often look at photographers and stylists for inspiration. But there is a difference in how you feel inspired. Sometimes you acknowledge the beauty and colors of a picture and then that's it, other times you might feel like redecorating your entire house. But the inspiration I treasure the most, is the one that will make me create something. These inspiring pictures are styled by Lara Hutton, an Australian based stylist. I really love how these pictures make you wanna go bake something, do a little paper mobile or make something fun out of driftwood...maybe your own piece of wall art. Being inspired to create is such an amazing thing and I'm definitely getting the creative spark from these images. What triggers your creativity?

Happy Friday! /Annika

THE CONTRASTS OF RELATIONSHIPS

I have been staying at my sisters for a while and it's quite fun to see how we do things differently. Since I'm no flower ninja, but none the less liking flowers very much, I have a more simple approach to flower arrangement. My sister being THE flower master, doing all the bouquets and flower decoration in ways that are beyond my imagination, she often uses a more artistic approach, presenting her pieces in beautiful vases and so. Where as I like to use the shabbiest containers as vases, because I have this crazy idea about using things in ways they were not intentionally meant to. It's a challenge and I like the contrasts of the results. And it's the same with the inspiration my sister gives me through her work and the contrasts it presents to my way of thinking and our relationship. It creates beautiful and interesting results.

Have a great Thursday! /Annika

SOFT RUGS AND FLOORBOARDS

I'm crazy about wooden floors and we have a lot of them in our house. Even though I think wood is both a very warm and natural looking material...it can sometimes feel a bit cold and bare. I like to decorate with smaller rugs,  because I like the look of the wooden floor to much to cover it with big rugs. To get that cozy feeling, I mostly use materials that create contrasts. I think the soft look of a really thick rug is beautiful against the hard floorboards.

Have a great Tuesday! /Sussi
